This was my first time ever shooting at La Mer, I know! I can't believe it took me that long to make my way out to that part of town. I was waiting for the perfect shoot, and when Zainab contacted me to help her celebrate her little son, Naseem, turning one, I just could not not mention this location to her! Zainab flew in from Saudi, La Mer was new to her and she was open to all the suggestions I made, which made for a wonderful shoot and time together!

As with most of my outdoor shoots, this one took place really early in the morning, partly to avoid the crowds, but also, because I absolutely love the quality of the light first thing in the morning. It's soft, and dewey, and not too harsh and also not too golden.

Needless to say, it was a blast! 

I love shooting first birthdays. Babies start to show so much of their budding personalities and some begin to acquire more independence, resulting in so many funny moments! They move about and add so much dimension to a shoot, and you can just play, play play. 

Idrees turned one this past December, and we had so much fun together. The session was very colorful and full of energy and laughs. I always tell my clients, you don't need much to have a great session, you don't even have to make sure every piece of furniture in your home is exactly where it needs to be. All you need to do is focus on your family, focus on the fun you want to have together, and allow the moments to unfold naturally.
