7 Tips For What To Wear For A Maternity Photoshoot | Dubai Maternity Photographer

A maternity photoshoot is one of the most beautiful ways to document your fleeting pregnancy months. When selecting an outfit, you want to pick something that will make you feel comfortable and beautiful. I get this question all the time, "what should I wear?" so I thought I would put together some tips to help you out for your next session. Maternity photos can be some of the most beautiful and intimate photos that you’ll ever take and having the perfect outfit is key to making your photos look amazing. If you’re searching for the perfect outfit to wear for your upcoming maternity photo shoot, here are 7 tips that will surely help you out.

1. The maxi dress
The epitome of comfort and femininity. Specially if you're thinking of doing an outdoor shoot. It's non-restrictive, totally flattering, and it also helps that the fabric flows and can create for amazing pictures when movement is involved, bringing lots of life to your photographs

2. Go for solid colors
This helps bring all the focus to your bump, whether it is dark solids like blacks or burgundy or maybe even pastels. If you're a big fan of prints, then maybe an idea is to have your partner wear a patterned shirt instead. I'm a big lover of prints and patterns myself, so I understand that maybe solid colors may be perceived as a bit boring. So a way to spice them up is to incorporate bright, bold accessories like scarves or jewelry. Simplicity is key though, so try not to go overboard.

3. Look at the colors inside your home
Think about what colors would be complimentary to the decor inside your home. Your photos will end up on the walls of your home, so you don't want them to clash with your wall color. If your walls are white, brown or beige, what colors will be complimentary? Maybe you can look at the color of the accents inside your home for inspiration.

4. Use a belt
A great way to accentuate the bump! And also a great way to incorporate accessories into your outfit without overcrowding the photo.

5. Wear tight clothes
Don't be ashamed of your pregnant body! This is one of the most beautiful stages of your life. And while comfort is always priority when choosing outfits, this doesn't mean that you can steer clear from form fitting outfits. They are a wonderful way to really show off your bump.

6. Pick something timeless
Your maternity photos will be treasured for forever. You never want to look back and wonder what you were thinking when you selected your outfit. That is why you can never go wrong with a simple, timeless dress. Lace is always a plus!

7. When in doubt, bring two outfits
Our session together gives you enough time to change outfits. Having more than one option adds variety to your photos, and you would have more options when deciding which photos you would like to print and hang up on your walls!

An Intimate Maternity Session | Dubai Maternity Photography

When Zaura got in touch with me to enquire about a boudoir maternity session, I could not hide my excitement. This type of shoot had been on my bucket list for a very long time, specially after the lovely glamour shoot with Sara which you can go back and see here!

You probably guessed by now that I absolutely love home shoots for so many reasons, but most importantly, for the simple fact that people can feel so comfortable at home and not "watched". They are more in their element, and you can therefore capture more of their spirit. Or at least that's what I believe. This was definitely the case with Zaura, and we worked together to make some beautiful photographs, most too intimate to share online, however, here are a few PG rated images that I can share with you all :)
