What I provide as your Birth Doula
Think of me as your birth coach and companion. Our relationship begins the minute you decide you would like to hire a doula. I offer an initial complimentary consultation with no obligation to commit, this can be in-person or through zoom. After we meet, I suggest taking a few days to think about our meeting, and if you have a full body βYESβ I will send you a link to review the service contract. A 50% non-refundable deposit will be due at the time of booking, this ensures your due date is blocked on my calendar. The remaining 50% will be due at 38 weeks.
As your doula, I will offer two prenatal meetings/sessions.
First session we go over the birth plan, concerns, priorities and preferences. We will also go over your plans for the first 6-8 weeks postpartum.
Second session will be a mini childbirth education class, where we will practice preferred comfort measures and labor positions, and how your partner can be a supportive participant (if you wish) during your labor.
I will be on call for you 24/7 from week 38 through week 42. You may contact me at any time with questions or concerns and I can guide you through any kind of decisions you feel you need support. The closer you get to your due date, the more important it is that you contact me as soon as you feel like labor is beginning, even if you are not sure. This will help ensure that I am aware of your situation, able to readjust any plans on my end so that I can ensure I attend your birth. I will extend support as you feel necessary. Usually during early labor, support may be through phone calls, or FaceTime. As you get closer to active labor, then I will physically join you, and I will remain with you up for 1-2 hours after the baby is born (usually). Booking me as your doula will ensure that you have 10 photos of your labor included in the package. You may upgrade to a full photography/videography package, and I would be happy to discuss those details with you.
As part of my service package you will also receive one postpartum visit that takes place usually a week after the birth.
I use a sliding scale price model to make birth doula services as accessible as possible. I believe strongly that doula services should be available to anyone who needs them, and therefore, I try to eliminate financial barriers as much as possible. The Green Bottle system is an honor system based on trust and truthfulness.
